Abstract
In this presentation we will review the roles, both past and present, that libraries have played in regards to preserving information. The roles libraries will have preserving scholarly content in the ever-increasingly born-digital world will be explored along with an examination of the issues involved with digital preservation. Topics covered will include how digital preservation relates to and differs with digital repositories, the type and level of institutional commitment required, and collection development issues related to digital preservation. (A modified version of the IGeLU 2009 presentation of the same name).
